Margi Clarke is a British actress and national treaure. She was born and raised in Liverpool, and is known for her trademark Scouse accent and platinum-blonde hair.

In 1984 she appeared in two episodes of the Liverpool-set Channel 4 soap opera Brookside as Margi MacGregor.

She first came to prominence, however in 1985 after starring in the cult film Letter to Brezhnev, about two working class Liverpool girls who meet two Russian sailors. She went on to star in the films I Hired a Contract Killer, The Dressmaker and Strike It Rich, and presented the award-winning late night ITV show The Good Sex Guide.

In 1991 Margi performed with Half Man Half Biscuit on the single "No Regrets", a cover of the classic song, "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien", by Edith Piaf. At the same year she also portrayed Ronnie O'Dowd, a widowed sexy female boxer in Blonde Fist.

In 1998, Margi joined the cast of Coronation Street, playing Jackie Dobbs. She left in 1999, and went on to join the cast of Five soap opera Family Affairs, staying for two years.

In 2004 Margi appeared on the Five reality TV show The Farm and featured in the film School for Seduction. In 2006, Margi had a role in an the Hollyoaks spin-off, Hollyoaks: In the City.

Margi is often referred to as 'The Queen Of Liverpool' by the media. This tag was originally attributed to Clarke by music promoter Malcolm McLaren. She has utilised this connection with the city and its people to great effect in her weekly radio show on the city’s City Talk station.

In August 2007, Margi guest presented Big Brother's Big Mouth on Channel 4 with Pete Burns, and she returned to a much-deserved prime-time starring role in the second series of hit ITV1 comedy Benidorm on ITV in 2008 as well as expanding her own on health website and the skincare range she developed. Margi has returned to Weatherfield’s cobbles in Coronation Street on regular occasions over the past ten years, her most recent on-screen appearances airing in Spring 2010, when she will also be seen undertaking the grueling physical challenges of BBC1’s Celebrity Total Wipeout.
