Born in Los Angeles, stunning and sophisticated Petrina Khashoggi was educated in the UK and scouted by Models 1 at the tender age of 16. It wasn’t long before she was represented by modelling agencies in London, NY, Paris, Milan,
Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt and Berlin, her graceful features gracing the covers of Sunday Times Style and ES magazine. She modelled for many other magazines including i-D, Marie-Claire, InStyle, Glamour and Elle and starred in major campaigns for Firetrap, L’Oreal, Babyliss and Marks and Spencer.
Petrina was also shot by Rankin for his iconic book 'Above and Below' - a collaboration with David Bailey and the public fascination with her was fed by feature articles in W, UK Vogue, US Vogue, GQ, Tatler, Ocean Drive and Pashion.
During this period, Petrina also accumulated some broadcast credits, her TV work including a part in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’, co-hosting an episode of 'Whipples World' (prime time TV show for US station NY1) and also covering London Fashion Week for Elite Models in-house TV channel. She has appeared on Fashion TV countless times
(interviews, videos of fashion shoots, etc) and starred in a Virgin webisode for 'Dr Hoo' alongside top British actor Ian Hart.
After living and working as a model in New York for three years, Petrina felt a strong desire to explore her passion for art, and returned to the UK in 2006, where she became an art dealer at Gagosian, running the Mayfair gallery and acting as a roaming ambassador for the company for two years. Her creative urges still unfulfilled, she enrolled in various home study courses with the Open University, took an acting course at Central School of Speech and Drama, and in her ‘spare time’ discovered a talent for writing dialogue as well as for speaking it. Her first ever screenplay was optioned immediately by a London-based production company, and, keen to hone her craft, Petrina applied for a place on the MA course in Screenwriting at the University of Westminster, which she was accepted onto on the strength of the quality of her first screenplay.
During her time at university, Petrina put her writing skills to alternative use as a freelance journalist, and has had articles recently published in various publications including The Mail on Sunday, Tatler, Elle, and The Lady.
Petrina completed her MA in Screenwriting at the end of 2010 and her work has already attracted the interest of several production companies on both sides of the Atlantic. 2011 looks set to be an exciting year on many fronts!
